ERICSSON 3 & ERICSSON 4

Ericsson has entered two boats in the 2008/09 edition of the Volvo Ocean Race. The boats will be skippered by Anders Lewander and Torben Grael. These boats are the Swedish Team’s 3rd and 4th entry in the history of the Volvo Ocean Race.

TELEFONICA BLUE & TELEFONICA BLACK

Spain has a two boat team in this year’s race. Lead by Spanish Olympians Bouwe Bekking and Fernando Echávarri, Telefonica Blue and Telefonica Black are easily differentiated by hull color. Both teams are based in Alicante, Spain the host of the 2008 — 2009 Volvo Ocean Race start.

TEAM RUSSIA

Oleg Zherebtsov assembled Team Russia for The Volvo Ocean Race to raise the awareness of sailing while continuing to focus on Team Russia’s #1 charity, The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS). WDCS is the world’s most active charity dedicated to the conservation and welfare of whales, dolphins and porpoises. Team Russia is skippered by world renowned sailor Andreas Hanakamp.

GREEN DRAGON

Ireland is proud to support their national team, which was named Green Dragon after securing sponsorship from a major Chinese company. Skippered by Olympic medalist, Ian Walker the Green Dragon has a culturally diverse team with a great deal of experience between them.

DELTA LLOYD

The final boat to enter the race has the most history. This yacht won the last Volvo Ocean Race in 2005-06 as ABN AMRO I. Now sailing under the Dutch flag, it’s been extensively rebuilt for this trip around the world. Ireland’s Ger O’Rourke skippers an international crew that combines his Chieftain Racing Team with Dutch sailors.
