Welcome to the Volvo Ocean Race at Fan Pier in Boston!

This is your invitation to witness another history making sporting event in the “city of champions” Boston! From April 27th thru May 16th 2009 the best sailors in the world will be at Fan Pier Boston celebrating the finish of the Rio De Janeiro to Boston Leg of the Volvo Ocean Race at Fan Pier, you’ll find our cutting edge International Race Village. Unlike anything you have seen in North America, the village features pavilions by Volvo, Puma, and Ericsson. The village will host entertainment, interactive experiences, educational programs, children’s activities, and a long list of sailing related products and demonstrations. You’ll have a chance to get up close and personal with seven, state-of-the-art Volvo Open 70’ race boats which will be out of the water on display, during the first week. There are also exciting opportunities to watch the professional sailing teams in action during the May 9th In-Port race and the Pro-Am demonstration race May 10th. During the week of May 11-15, the Volvo Extreme 40 catamaran demonstration races will showcase their speed and maneuverability. The Boston Stopover ends with the Volvo Ocean Race restart in Boston Harbor May 16th! This is sure to be the highlight of the 21 day visit to Boston and should not be missed!

This race is not just for sailing enthusiasts — the music, entertainment, children’s activities, local displays and eclectic food offerings will make the Volvo Ocean Race at Fan Pier Boston the premier outdoor festival in 2009!
